“People tell us they really like our produce,” said Kathy Stanner, who along with her husband Melvin has been selling at the farmers market for a dozen or so years. “Actually our farm-fresh eggs are our biggest seller,” she said. The Stanners bring a variety of produce to the community center each week. Kathy said to look for rhubarb and asparagus early in the growing season, followed by zucchini.

“Everyone wants tomatoes and cucumbers, but those take a little while to grow,” Kathy said with a smile. “Later in the summer, their popular grape tomatoes, banana peppers and hot peppers come in, along with large sweet onions. We have a lot of repeat customers who come back for our tomatoes or beets to can for the winter,” she said.

The Angola Farmers Market is not just the place to get fruits and vegetables or your morning coffee. It is where we go to say "hello" to one another...to tell our friends how beautiful their babies are...to see the new dog and comfort a friend who has lost a dog. It is where we go, in my small town, to take care of one another. Every Saturday.
